Police say no physical injuries were found on the dead body discovered in a house in Mahchangoalhi ward of Male yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Mohamed Mujthaba of Mahchangoalhi Aafalu.
He was discovered dead yesterday after police had responded to reports of a strong smell coming from the Aafalu house.
Updating the media on the latest information about the case, Police said that the body of the deceased shows no sign of any physical injuries. Police added that they were actively investigating the case.
Sources have confirmed that Mujthuba is a drug addict with criminal records of both drug abuse and theft. He had also served a jail sentence for a narcotic-related charge.
Some reports have also said that he had overdosed on drugs.
His funeral was held at midnight last night.
