Police say a 13-year-old girl believed to have been abducted has been found safe and sound.
It was reported that the girl was allegedly abducted sometime last night.
Speaking to "The Press", a police media official said that a 13-year-old girl was reported missing in Hulhumale last night around 12:50.
The Official said that the girl was found today at 06:17 am.
Police had said that they were investigating the incident.
Reports have said that the girl was abducted because a member of her family had owned money to an individual who had allegedly abducted the girl.
This comes as the country is experiencing a difficult year with several violent crimes reported across the country.
While these include several abductions and a brazen attack against the Speaker of the Parliament, a 13-year-old old boy was found murdered earlier this year.
