The Prosecutor General's Office has filed charges against two other suspected apprehended in relation to the attack against Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed last May.
Media Official and Public Prosecutor Ahmed Shafeeu said that charges were filed against Abdullah Ali Manik of Bahaaru ge, Haa Alifu Molhadhoo, and Mohamed Thasleem of Alanaasi ge of Haa Alifu Hoarafushi.
Shafeeu said that they were being charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act and for supporting a terrorist organization.
He added that these charges were filed at the criminal court and that this was in relation to the failed assassination attempt against the former President.
The Speaker was targeted outside his home in Male' after an IED strapped to a motorcycle was detonated just as Nasheed walked close to the parked vehicle.
Nasheed sustained life-threatening injuries and was first treated in ADK hospital where he underwent emergency surgery before being flown to Germany for further treatment.
The speaker then went to the UK for a stay before returning to the Maldives earlier this month but the duration of his is yet unclear.
Authorities have apprehended 10 people in relation to the attack against Nasheed and so far charges have been filed against 9 suspects.
