Police have revealed the identity of the two suspects apprehended during the special operations in which police seized more than 200 kg of narcotics.

Police had successfully conducted a counter-narcotics operation that began last Wednesday with the Drug Enforcement Department, DED, Marine Police, Forensics, Raa Atoll Police, and Intelligence teams all involved.

Police had said that they had arrested two individuals and seized approximately 215 kgs of heroin.

Police today revealed the names of the two suspects arrested in the operations and said that they were both from Raa Atoll Maduvari.

They said that one of the men arrested was 42-year-old Ali Shakiru of Finifaru house of the island and the other was identified as 33-year-old Nimal Abdul Haariz of Fehi Ali house of the island.

Maduvaru Magistrate court had remanded the two under police custody for another 15 days last Saturday.

Recently, Police had also seized more than 100 kg of heroin in another counter-narcotics operation and arrested 10 individuals during the bust.

But Police had released two out of the 10 for insufficient evidence and later revealed the identity of the remaining 8 suspects apprehended in the operations.
