Maldives Meteorological Services, the Met Office has extended a yellow alert it had issued over the country due to bad weather.
The Met Office had initially issued the yellow alert from 12:30 am last night to 08:30 am this morning.
In its initial alert, the Met Office had said that strong winds of 25 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour and gusts of 50 miles per hour with rough seas were expected.
The alert was issued for the whole country.
Earlier this morning, the Met Office had extended the yellow alert it had issued over the whole country.
It said that the alert had been issued from 08:30 am to 16:30 am today.
The Met Office said that strong winds of 25 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour and gusts of 50 miles per hour with generally rough seas were expected.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority of the Maldives had urged seafarers to take caution when traveling due to the bad weather and rough conditions.
