Police have released a man arrested for threatening to hijack a plane from the national carrier Maldivian.

Police had said that they had arrested a local man after receiving such a complaint earlier this week and had said that the subject had allegedly threatened to hijack a Maldivian flight bound to Male' from Fuvamulah city.

Police had also said that it was a 35-year-old man and that he had been arrested under a court order.

In its latest update on the case, Police said that the man has now been released from custody.

Police said that his release was sanctioned by Fuvamulah Magistrate Court after he was taken to the court to determine whether or not he should be released during the investigation.

Police said that the suspect was released with conditions.

They had said that the Police would continue to investigate the incident.
