An Indian man has attempted to kill a local taxi driver in an incident reported last night.
Police said that the incident had occurred in Hulhumale last night and that the foreigner had been intoxicated while the altercation had happened.
Police had also said that the Indian man had attacked the taxi driver to steal money from the local man.
Media reports have said that the foreigner had attacked the taxi driver after the driver had nearly dropped off the man at a Guesthouse in Hulhumale', after the Indian had missed his flight earlier that night.
Local media 'Mihaaru' had quoted the driver's family as saying that the Indian man had tried to choke the driver by stringing his T. Shirt around the driver's neck.
The family also said that the foreigner had been sitting behind the driver's seat when he launched the attack.
Reports also said that both the victim and the attacker were young men.
