Health Protection Agency HPA says another 233 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the country on Sunday.
The Agency confirmed that the majority of the cases had come from the inhabited islands across the country with 157 new cases reported from the Atolls on Sunday.
HPA said that the Greater Male' Area reported just 31 new cases while 45 cases were confirmed from operational resorts.
Sunday's COVID cases take the total tally to 73,327 in the Maldives since the pandemic hit the country's shores in March 2020.
The Agency also said that more than 69,000 have now recovered from the illness in the country and that the number of active cases in the country was now at 4,075.
HPA added that the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has now dropped to 29.
The pandemic has killed 209 people in the Maldives and 48 deaths had come this month.
HPA had also said that the total number of cases include 12 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19
