The Parliament's Committee on Oversight of the Security Forces has today summoned the governor of Maldives Monetary Authority Ali Hashim and other officials from the central bank for its ongoing parliamentary inquiry.

The Committee, dubbed 241 Committee, in short, launched the inquiry to investigate the security breach that led to the attack against the speaker of the parliament Mohamed Nasheed last month.

The Committee had summoned some high-profile officials to seek answers for its inquiry and this includes the Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed and Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdullah Shamal.

Earlier this week, the committee had summoned members of the MNDF Special Protection Group who had acted as bodyguards to the Speaker.

Today, the 241 Committee continued its probe into the events of the attack by questioning the Governor of MMA Hashim.

This was confirmed by the parliament via Twitter and it said that the deputy governor of MMA and the head of its Financial Intelligence Unit accompanied the Governor.

It is unclear which line of questioning was posed for the Governor and his deputies as the 241 committee inquiry continue behind closed doors.
