Parliament's Committee on Oversight of the Security Forces, dubbed 241 Committee in short, has summoned Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam and former Mayor of Male' City Shifa Mohamed for its ongoing parliamentary inquiry.
The Committee is conducting an inquiry into the security breach of speaker of the parliament Mohamed Nasheed prior to the failed assassination attempt against his last month.
He was targeted just outside his residence in Male'.
Yesterday it had summoned the Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed while today it began the questioning sessions with the summoning of ex-Mayor Shifa.
The ex-Mayor had faced questions before after Maldives National Defense Security had said that it had requested the City Council to make the street on which the speaker's house was located a no-parking zone.
The city council had deflected these questions by stating that the Housing Ministry had now allowed for such a decision.
Meanwhile, the 241 Committee had today also summoned Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam for its inquiry and it is believed that the line of questions directed towards the Minister would also be about why it had delayed making the street a non-parking zone.
The Committee is also expected to summon Chief of Defence Force Abdullah Shamal and Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi.
