Police have confirmed that a young man had sustained serious injuries after he was abducted and beaten by a group of people in Kulhudhufushi City.
Police said that the 29-year-old man was abducted by a group of masked assailants and that they had forced the victim into a car before driving away from the scene of the abduction.
Police added that this incident was reported around 08:00 pm last night.
They said that the attackers had beaten up the victim and that the young man had sustained serious injuries.
Police also said that the victim was rushed to Kulhudhufushi regional hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, an online news outlet based in the northern city reported that the victim had sustained serious injuries to his skull.
The news outlet quoted the hospital and reported that the man had suffered a skull fracture and that blood had leaked into his brain.
The report also said that the hospital was working to send the victim to Male' for further treatment as early as this afternoon.
Police had said that it was now actively investigating the incident.
