Prosecutor General's Office has requested the Criminal Court to issue a court order to arrest MP for Kendhikulhudhoo Constituency Ahmed Easa after he was accused of domestic violence.

The PG's request came as police asked the office to intervene following a report lodged at the police regarding the alleged domestic abuse.

The local media had reported that MP Easa had allegedly abused his wife and sister of Vice President Faisal Naseem, Asra Naseem and that Asra had sustained severe injuries at the hands of her husband.

This comes after a domestic violence case was brought to the attention of police on the 18th of this month and local media had connected this case with MP Easa.

MP Easa had not yet commented on the allegations against him but his wife Asra had posted on her Facebook page, saying that the last 24 hours had been difficult for her and her young son.

Asra went onto say that she had experienced something that she thought would never happen to her but said with God's graces she and her son were doing alright.

She thanked her family, friends, and well-wishers for their support and encouragement at this difficult time.
