Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed a 3rd COVID-19 death from the Laamu COVID management Facility in the space of two days.

HPA said in a tweet today that earlier today a 36-year-old Nepali male admitted in the Facility was declared dead at 02:00 am.

The Agency confirmed that this is the 113 COVID death in the Maldives.

Yesterday, HPA had reported 7 COVID deaths and had said that out of the 7, two were reported from the Laamu COVID facility in Gan.

HPA had said that yesterday an 87-year-old local man admitted at the facility and a 69-year-old local woman admitted at the facility had succumbed to the illness.

Out of the 7 deaths reported yesterday, 3 were confirmed from Hulhumale Medical Facility while 2 others were died after being rushed to IGMH/ER.

The Country has seen its monthly COVID death toll rise dramatically this May with 40 deaths so far.

The pandemic situation in the country remains grave as HPA confirmed another 1,187 new cases yesterday. This includes 965 new cases from the Greater Male' Area, 214 new cases from inhabited islands, 6 from operational resorts, and 2 from safaris.

This takes the total cases reported in the country to 48,608 with 29,644 recoveries and 18,843 active cases of the pandemic in the country.
