Police have confirmed that it has officially begun its investigations into the alleged sexual abuse of a 3-year-old girl.

In a statement, Police said that such a report has been filed at the Crimes Against Children department of the Family and Child Protection Service and that the police were now actively investigating the alleged abuse.

Police said that as soon as the complaint was lodged it had acted to see if the child in question had suffered physical injuries and had consulted a doctor to verify the extent of the alleged abuse.

It also said that its officers have now proceeded to consult a psychologist for the child in order to determine the psychological trauma inflicted with the alleged abuse. Police said that it is now moving forward with collecting other relevant evidence and reports to further investigate the alleged sexual abuse.

Police also assured that it is working with Family and Child Protection Services to offer protection to the victim of the said abuse.

It had categorized the case as a serious case and said that its investigation is going forward as per the procedure.

The police assured that it would not hesitate to take any necessary action in relation to the case.
