Health Protection Agency HPA has extended the operational hours of vaccination centers in the Greater Male' Area.
HPA said in a tweet that it had extended the vaccination hours due to the high turnout for vaccines in the past couple of days in the area.
Initially, HPA had announced that in the holy month of Ramadan, vaccination centers would operate from 09:00 pm to 11:00 pm every day but revised this decision by extending the hours till 11:45 pm.
Currently, HPA is administering the 1st dose of the Sinopharm vaccine as well as the Pfizer vaccine (for pre-registered individuals) and the 2nd dose of the Covishield vaccine in the Greater Male' Area.
HPA said that in the Greater Male' Area, 2nd dose of the Covishield vaccine would be administered at 6 vaccination centers and that this includes the Social Center, National Art Gallery, People's Majlis, Hulhumale Vaccination Center, Villimale' Youth Center, and Senahiya.
The Agency said that the 2nd dose of the Covisheild vaccine is open for people who received their first dose of the vaccine 8 weeks prior.
HPA also said that Sinopharm first dose would be administered at the Treetop Hospital and that it is open for people between 18 to 16 years of age.
Yesterday, there were reports of long and winding vaccination queues across the Greater Male' Area with the most congested lines reported at the Social Center.
