Police Officers have taken the oath of service to commence the implementation of the Maldives Police Service Act today.
Vice President Faisal Naseem and Chief Justice Muthaisim Adnan were the guests of honor at the ceremony held at Iskandharu Building earlier this morning.
The Chief justice presided over the oathing ceremony where Home Minister Imran Abdullah and the Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed were also present along with top officers of the Police force.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Faisal Naseem said that the oath the Officers had taken today is no ordinary oath and each one of them should stand with this oath while fulfilling their jobs and responsibilities.
The Vice President also said that the new Police Service Act would ease the worries of the public and that this would be a new beginning for the Police Force.
However, he said that a strong law alone cannot enhance the Police Service and that the police must at all times try to successfully implement the law.
Vice President Faisal said that the most important duty for the police is to abide by the laws of Islam while also implementing the constitution and upholding the laws of the government.
The oath re-taking ceremony was held across the country today.
