MP for Galolhu Uthuru Constituency and Vice Speaker of the Parliament Eva Abdullah says working at a certain place does not entitle anyone to receive housing and that it should be given to those who most need it and deserve it.

She made the comments speaking during the debate that proceeded after the parliamentary committee on state-owned enterprises had submitted a report about a housing scheme for employees working at State Electric Company Stelco.

MP Eva noted that in a place as crowded as the capital Male' where many deserved people are desperate for housing, when companies set rules and regulations to award housing to their employees, those who most need housing are denied the opportunity.

She said that Male' City Council would know better when it comes to who most deserves housing and that company heads cannot decide this.

Eva said companies should not be given the opportunity to give housing to their employees and if it continues on, those who most need housing from the general public would be denied the right.

Vice Speaker of the parliament took aim at the state-owned companies and said that these companies were not run in the most beneficial way. She also said that such companies should not be allowed to have their own 'state'.
