Maldives Meteorological Service Met Office has issued a yellow alert for nine atolls in the central Maldives.
It said that that alert was issued to the islands in Lhaviyani Atoll to the islands in Meemu Atoll. The Met Office issued its alert from 12:00 pm to 16:00 pm in the evening.
It said that torrential rain and thunderstorms are expected in the areas at this time.
Meanwhile, the Met Office had extended its White Alert issued from Haa Alifu Atoll to Meemu Atoll earlier today.
In its alert, the Met Office said that heavy rains and thunderstorms with a gust of winds of 40 MPH were expected in the area.
The Met Office added that it extended the alert from 12:00 pm to 18:00 pm in the evening.
