National Carrier Maldivian says it has flown a total of 9633 Bangladeshi passengers on its repatriation flights to the country this year.

In a tweet, the airline said that today it had flown 200 Bangladeshis nationals aboard its repatriation flight.

Maldivian added that it has flown 50 repatriation flights since it began the program.

The national carrier has been helping the government in its repatriation program but chartering repatriation plans, mostly to Bangladeshi capital Dhaka.

The Maldivian government has been working with the Bangladeshi authorities to repatriate its nationals back to the country.

Since April, Maldivian authorities have repatriated more than 10,000 Bangladeshis living in the country and most of them have been sent aboard Maldivian flights.

The government aims to send back around 20,000 undocumented migrant workers back to Bangladesh by the end of the year.
