National carrier Maldivian has bagged the award for ' Leading Tourist Transport Provider (air) at the South Asian Travel Awards SATA 2020 held yesterday.
This is the third time the carrier has received the honors at the SATA awards.
Speaking after accepting the award Deputy Managing Director at Maldivian Aishath Jennifer said that this year has been a challenging year for the aviation industry.
She highlighted that despite the tough circumstances, the dedicated team at the airline had worked tirelessly to provide air connectivity to all the corners of the Maldives.
Jennifer went on to say that without a doubt aviation and tourism work hand in hand and that winning this award is a testament to the confidence the airline's partners and customers have in it.
Maldivian had played a key role in the relief efforts during the toughest periods of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic by including chartering humanitarian flights to evacuate Maldivians stranded in other countries due to the pandemic.
