Health Protection Agency HPA has reported 50 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Tuesday.

In a tweet, HPA said that 46 new cases were confirmed from the Greater Male’ Area yesterday while 4 were reported from the islands.

HPA said the new cases include 48 locals and 2 foreigners.

This takes the total COVID-19 cases reported in the island nation closer to 11,000 at 10,993.

Meanwhile, HPA said on Tuesday that the number of recoveries recorded in the country has now reached 9833.

HPA said that 1118 remained as active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that 384 individuals were currently under isolation. It also confirmed that 67 COVID-19 patients were currently hospitalized for further medical treatment.

The Agency reported that 20 islands across the country are currently hosting 152 active cases of COVID-19. It also said that 18 resorts have active cases of COVID-19 and that this includes 10 tourists and 19 staff.

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 35 lives here in the Maldives including 29 locals and 6 foreigners. HPA had also reported that the confirmed cases include 7 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
