Authorities in Dhaalu Atoll has reported a COVID-19 case from the island.
Speaking to ‘The Press’ President of the Kudahuvadhoo council Ahmed Shaahu said that an individual who had completed the 14-days mandatory home quarantine after traveling to the Male’ Area had tested positive for COVID-19.
He said the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is a local man of around 45 years.
Kudahuvadhoo Social Support Desk had advised the islanders to be cautious following a positive case of COVID-19 on the island.
Health Protection Agency HPA had reported last night that 22 islands in the country are hosting active cases of COVID-19 and that only Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Hoadehdhoo remained under monitoring at the moment with the neighboring Madaveli lifted from monitoring yesterday.
HPA had confirmed that 9770 cases of COVID-19 in the island nation since March of this and had said that 8390 individuals have since recovered from the illness.
The Maldives has recorded 34 COVID-19 deaths including 28 locals and 6 foreigners.
