Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC says Health Protection Agency HPA has begun its mass inspection of government and private offices as well as public spaces, and public transport systems.
Speaking to the media last night, HEOC Spokesperson Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq had said that HPA would collaborate with other government institutions to ensure whether these places are adhering to the guidelines set by the HPA to thwart the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the capital city.
HPA also announced that it would conduct a second round of inspection of business establishments that provide public services and said that it would take appropriate action against those failing to adhere to public service guidelines as set by the agency.
HPA said if a business outlet is found in breach of the guideline for the first time, then the outlet would be closed down for 48 hours before being allowed to resume business.
The Agency said if a business fails to obey the HPA guidelines for the second time, then the outlet would face a fine of MVR 1000 and would be closed down for 72 hours before being allowed to reopen.
HPA noted that if a business is found to be operating outside of HPA rules for the third time, then the outlet would be fined MVR 1000 and would be closed for 5 days.
