Speaker of the Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed says ISIS cells in the Maldives are using the slogan ‘India Out’ and criticized the opposition's use of this slogan.
In a tweet earlier, Nasheed said that the international community is well aware that the ‘India out’ slogan is being fronted by the ISIS cells in the country. He said that if the opposition PNC/PPM is continuing to use this slogan, then they are inviting the international terrorist to invade the Maldives and take over the country.
This comes after the opposition organized a motorbike rally against the alleged foreign military presence on Maldivian soil on Friday where 41 individuals were arrested by the police.
The opposition’s campaign has been gaining momentum as especially after two Indian military aircraft made unannounced landings in Hanimaadhoo International earlier this month.
The Maldives National Defense Force later said the planes were part of a planned surveillance mission by the two countries and the Immigration also said that the planes were granted permission to make the landings.
