Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC has confirmed 10 more new cases of COVID-19 from Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Hoadehdhoo today as authorities scramble to quell the community spread now confirmed in the island.
HEOC said the 10 new cases include 5 females and 5 males. It said the five females include a 13-year-old girl, two 19-year-olds, a 62-year-old woman, and a 67-year-old woman. HEOC confirmed the males who tested positive from the island on Tuesday include a 5-year-old boy, a 28-year-old man, a 41-year-old man, a 67-year-old man, and an 80-year-old man.
HEOC also said the out of the 10 new cases 8 were direct contacts of previously confirmed COVID-19 cases and the remaining two were secondary contacts.
The ten new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases reported from the island to a staggering 35.
The island is currently hosting 33 active cases of COVID-19 as two individuals with the illness were transferred to the COVID-19 Management facility established in Gaafu Alifu Villigilli earlier today.
HEOC had confirmed that an 80-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman were transferred to Villigill COVID facility after their condition worsened today.
