Police have arrested three men in possession of narcotics from a house in Maafannu ward of Male’.
Police said as part of its drug enforcement efforts, a house in Male’ was searched yesterday as per tip received by police intelligence. Police assured that the house was raided under a court order and that narcotics were seized from the scene.
Police added that in an operation carried out by the drug enforcement department and intelligence, police seized two rubber packets and 30 pieces of cellophane allegedly containing narcotics.
Police also said that 3 men of age 21-years have been arrested in relation to the case and that the investigation was currently underway.
Statistics published by the Home Ministry shows that most of the crime committed in 2019 were narcotics and drug-related.
It showed that 119 such crimes were reported last year and that this was 35 percent of the total crimes reported in 2019.
