Police have recovered MVR 300,000 stolen from a house in Laamu Atoll Isdhoo.
Police said the burglary was reported yesterday afternoon and had initiated an operation to recover the stolen money. Police confirmed that it had successfully concluded the operation with the recovery of the money.
Police said its station in Isdhoo and Laamu Gan took part in the operation along with Police Intelligence Unit and had found the stolen cash buried in the island.
Police also said that it had arrested a 29-year-old man and a 38-year-old man under court order in relation to this case.
As the country fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, a spike in the crime rate has been reported with burglaries and thefts now commonplace.
