Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC has confirmed new cases of COVID-19 from Noonu Maalhendhoo, Lhaviyani Naifaru, and Laamu Fonadhoo today.
HEOC said in Naifaru a 33-year-old woman had tested positive for COVID-19 upon testing for the illness having completed the mandatory 14-days quarantine.
HEOC had said that four others who had completed home quarantine in Naifaru had also tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
Meanwhile, in Fonadhoo a foreigner under home quarantine had tested positive for COVID-19 today. Fonadhoo council said the foreigner was tested positive having completed the mandatory 14-days quarantine having traveled to the Male’ Area recently.
In Maalhendhoo, a contact of a COVID-19 patient had tested positive for the pandemic today.
HEOC said that a 54-year-old woman had tested positive for COVID-19 in relation to a case reported from the island before.
The latest update from the Health Protection Agency HPA said that 39 islands are hosting active cases of COVID-19 across the country with Shaviyani Feevah still under monitoring as HPA work to rule out a potential community spread in the island.
HPA also confirmed that 20 resorts are also hosting active cases of COVID-19 including 16 tourists and 45 staff.
