The Maldives National Defence Force, MNDF, has confirmed that the mega fireworks show planned as part of the celebrations of opening the new terminal at Velaana International Airport tonight has been delayed.
MNDF said the show will now begin around 09:40 tonight.
Previously, it was set to begin at 08:30 after MNDF announced that fireworks would be set off in 19 locations in the capital.
It said that fireworks would go off in 16 locations in the waters surrounding Male' city as well as 3 other locations near the airport.
MNDF also stated that the fireworks would last 6 minutes.
Reports came in that the government had planned to hold a drone show ahead of the fireworks, which had also been delayed.
