Maldives National Defense Force Fire and Rescue Services are working to control a huge fire currently burning on Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Male’.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said that the fire originated in a restaurant named Cafe' Tiolo in Boduthakurufaanu Magu and spread to the adjoining building of the State Bank of India (SBI) which also has offices of Ooredoo Maldives.
The latest reports said that Café Tiolo has now burnt to the ground and the fire is now burning in the nearby residence of H. Sunleet.
Several fire engines are already on the scene and working to control the blaze.
There are no reports of any injuries in the incident but MNDF is working to evacuate residents of nearby buildings in the highly congested area in Male’.
Health Protection Agency HPA has advised members of the public not to go to the scene of the fire.
It also advised those who come in contact with COVID-19 patients or individuals under quarantine during the evacuation process to contact HPA through its hotline 1676.
