Worsening weather conditions to the southern parts of the country has pushed the country's weather forecast authority to issue yellow alerts across the region.
According to Maldives Meteorological Center (MET Office) the alert will remain effective between 19:30hrs to 23:30hrs of Tuesday, 24 August, evening.
Moreover the weather forecast authority warns the region will experience heavy rainfall accompanied with thunder and lightning while MET warns further deterioration in weather conditions for the area.
However, weather will remain generally clear for central and northern areas of Maldives though the authority highlights of light drizzles or moderate rainfall.
Wind direction for southern parts of the country as per MET Office will originate from North-Northwest at speeds between 5 to 15 miles per hour.
Despite the heavy rainfall to southern parts, MET claims the seas will be generally calmer for the region while on the other hand seas are expected to be rougher across central and northern parts of the country.
