The Parliament has delayed approving Dr. Abdullah Mausoom as the Tourism Minister and sends his name back to the government oversight committee for reconsideration.
The parliament sent his name back even before putting his approval for a vote as Dr. Mausoom retained the post of Managing Director of a local business when he took the oath for the post of Tourism Minister.
The decision to sent his name back was made upon the recommendation of the Parliament’s Consular General and by the Speaker of the Parliament.
The government oversight committee had unanimously approved Dr. Mausoom for the vacant post of Tourism Ministry on the 26th of this month.
While his appointment awaits the green signal from parliament floor, Dr. Mausoom took the oath of office on the 6th of this month in the presence of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Supreme Court Justice Mahaz Ali Zahir.
