Health authorities on Monday confirm two individuals from Drug Rehabilitation Center testing positive for Covid-19 viral disease.

Meanwhile, Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) confirms tests of two individuals from release samples had come positive for the viral contagion. However, HEOC had not disclosed any further information regarding the positive cases.

Maldives is facing a second wave of spread with surging cases everyday while authorities report a total of 119 cases on Sunday. Out of the total 110 cases originated from Greater Male' Region while the remaining 9 were reported from across the country.

So far the total number of cases reported from the island nation have spiked to hit 6,779 inclusive of both active cases and recoveries while the total number of recoveries have reached 4,222.

The country is still list among the few places with the lowest mortality rate, with only 24 cases of death reported till date.

Moreover, HPA notes a total of 24 islands outside of Greater Male' Region reported with active cases and remain under the authority's watch list for future developments.
