Health authorities on Monday, 24 August 2020, reports discovery of 03 children from Thaa atoll Omadhoo with Covid-19 disease.

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) claims the ages of the children who tested positive for the virus were 2, 4 and 11. Meanwhile, authorities on Monday reported discovery of positive cases from the Maldives Rehabilitation Center as well as from Kaafu atoll Himmafushi.

On Sunday, authorities confirmed discovery of a total of 119 new cases within a 24-hour window, which included 100 Maldivians, 11 Bangladeshis, 3 Indians, 3 Filipinos along with 2 Sri Lankans and 2 from United Arab Emirates (UAE). Moreover, health authorities confirm 110 out of Sunday's total were discovered from Greater Male' Region while the remaining 9 cases were reported from across the country.

In the meantime the active cases have risen to 2,531, out of which 162 have been hospitalized. Another 1,457 individuals remain in various isolation facilities.

Maldives now reports positive cases from various points across the country, meanwhile HEOC confirms the islands from which Covid-19 have been discovered after the second wave hit. The islands include;

  • Gulhi (Kaafu Atoll)
  • Maamigili (Alif Dhaal Atoll)

A total of 24 islands across the country reports active cases while Monday's case discovery will add Thaa Atoll Omadhoo to the list as well.
