Maldives Prosecutor General has advised on how to conduct criminal investigations.

The island nation's Prosecutor General advised all the relevant authorities with the mandate of conducting criminal investigations over various issues.

As per Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem, the authorities are to immediately redirect the investigation towards the relevant authority with the specific mandate once the initial institute learns the investigation falls outside of its jurisdiction or powers.

Moreover, should the initial intitution learns of the investigation includes matters concerning other affiliate or relevant authorities then they need to be immediately informed and provided with the information before the probe concludes.

Additionally, Shameem advised to the authorities on informing the Maldives Prosecutor General's Office regarding any joint-investigation authorities plan to carry out, prior to the investigation with accordance to section 76 of Criminal Procedure Act.

Prosecutor General has issued out the advise through the powers vested to him under section 233(d) of Maldives Constitution and section 15(d) of Prosecutor General's Act.
