Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that another person had died of COVID-19 in the country as the battle to deter the pandemic intensifies in the Maldives.
HPA said that today at 05:36 pm a 64-year-old Maldivian Female admitted in HMF, ICU has passed away.
She is the 7th person to die from COVID-19 in the Maldives this month alone and the 23rd person to die from the pandemic in the country since the illness reached its shores back in March.
The 23 people who have died of COVID-19 include 18 Maldivians and 5 foreigners.
The locals who have died of COVID-19 are mostly elderly patients with underlying health conditions but recently a 52-year-old had died from COVID-19 in the country.
The 5 foreigners who died of COVID-19 include 4 Bangladeshi nationals and 1 Filipino national.
A total of 5785 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country and 2414 remain as active cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives.
