Sources say WHO Representative to the Maldives Dr. Arvind Mathur has tested positive for COVID-19.
No government organization has yet confirmed these reports.
Commenting on the reports, Deputy Director General at Health Ministry Thasleema Usman said that the government does not release personal information of the individuals tested positive for COVID-19 in the country.
Health Protection Agency HPA reported 148 new cases of COVID-19 in the country taking the total number of positive cases to a staggering 4594.
It also said that while 13 patients recovered from the illness, the country currently has 1869 active cases of COVID-19 with 110 admitted at hospitals for further treatment.
The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 19 lives in the Maldives including 14 locals and 5 foreigners.
