Health Emergency Operations Center Spokesperson Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq says HPA has shut down another 20 establishments yesterday during the ongoing large-scale inspection in the Male’ Area.

Speaking to local journalists via a virtual news conference, Dr. Nazla said that HPA had inspected 253 establishments yesterday for adherence to Health Protection Agency HPA guidelines to further prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

She said that out of the 253 establishments, 20 were closed down for failing to obey the guidelines set by the HPA.

Dr. Nazla said these 20 establishments included 6 salon/barber shops, 8 shops, 3 cafes/ restaurants, and 3 markets.

Since last Wednesday HPA had inspected 1083 establishments and ordered the closure of 215 establishments for disobeying HPA guidelines.

HPA had said earlier the establishments that are closed are allowed to reopen once they adhere to the HPA guidelines and only after a re-inspection by the Agency.
