A total of five islands from the northern region of Maldives have been brought under monitoring, barring back and forth travels from the islands.

During Monday evening's press conference at Dharubaaruge, Dr. Nazla Rafeeq claims the islands have been placed under monitoring following discovery of positive cases from the region.

Islands under monitoring including Makunudhoo, Finey and Nolhivaram of Haa Dhaal atoll along with Maarandhoo and Ihavandhoo of Haa Alif atoll.

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) confirms the islands were placed under monitoring after a ship that docked at all five islands was discovered carrying a Covid-19 positive case.

Meanwhile Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveals islands with positive cases discoveries that have not been placed under monitoring so far. These islands from Haa Alif, Raa, Baa along with Kaafu, Vaavu and Lhaviyani were listed under this category with a few tourist resorts.
