Police says the court has remanded the two suspects who were arrested for allegedly raping a person with special needs in Addu City.
Police said the two suspects were remanded in custody for a period of 15 days.
It also said the investigation into the case had not identified any other perpetrators behind the crime and that no other arrests have been made in connection to this case.
Police assured that it is following all the protocols and guidelines set by the authorities regarding the investigation of such cases.
Police had confirmed that the victim had been initially treated at Addu Equitorial Hospital and had now been shifted to Fuvuamulah for psychological assessment.
The case of the alleged rape of a 48-year-old woman with special needs in Hithadhoo of Addu City was reported to the police on the 1st of this month.
Police had since arrested a 19-year-old man and a 30-year-old man in connection to this case.
