The Vaavu atoll Magistrate Court on Monday evening announced remand of 15 days on 22 expat workers who were arrested for inciting unrest at a developing resort island.

Maldives Police Service corroborates the expats have been placed in remand at a venue under the discretion of Ministry of Home Affairs.

Meanwhile the local law enforcment have not disclosed the nationalities of the arrested expatriates, nor did they reveal where the individuals are kept.

Though there were no injuries during Monday evening's commotion, the conflict resulted in damages to the room of the expatriate group's supervisor.
