Health Protection Agency HPA has reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives as the number of new cases confirmed in the country dropped for a second day.
In a tweet, HPA said that the 17 people include 13 Maldivians, 3 Bangladeshis, and 1 Sri Lankan national.
These cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives to 2930 with more than 1200 locals tested positive for the global pandemic.
Meanwhile, HPA also confirmed that 14 people recovered from the illness today in the Maldives.
The total number of COVID-19 recoveries has now reached 2354.
HPA said that there are 546 active cases of COVID-19 in the country with 433 at state manned isolation facilities. It also said that only 21 were currently under quarantine facilities run by the government.
The Maldives has reported 15 COVID-19 deaths in the country including 10 locals and 5 foreigners.
