Health Protection Agency HPA confirms that 14 new cases of COVID-19 were reported today here in the Maldives.

In a tweet, HPA said 10 Maldivians, 3 Bangladeshis, and 1 Indian tested positive for COVID-19 today in the country.

Yesterday HPA reported that 68 individuals including 47 locals tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives.

The total number of COVID-19 cases now stands at 2931 in the country.

Meanwhile, HPA also confirmed that only one person recovered from the illness in the last 24 hours. But the number of recovered has climbed to 2340.

HPA stated that there are currently 543 active cases of COVID-19 in the country with 459 individuals hosted at government-run isolation facilities. Also, 32 individuals remained at state quarantine facilities established across the country.

The Island Nation has reported 15 COVID-19 deaths since the COVID-19 crisis began back in March of this year in the country. This includes 10 locals and 5 foreigners.

Five local men and five local women have passed away due to COVID-19 in the country while four Bangladeshi nationals and 1 Filipino has also died of the illness in the Maldives.
