Authorities on Tuesday have arrested one individual from Raa atoll Hulhudhuffaaru for violating quarantine regulations.
Maldives Police Service confirms they have arrested a local male aged 30 years on Tuesday for breaking quarantine protocols, and visiting outside amid the quarantine period. The individual was placed under quarantine effective from 30 June for a 14-day period.
Local law enforcement authority further confirms the individual had repeatedly violated the quarantine protocols - on multiple occasions.
Prior to arrest, the island council and law enforcement authority had advised him against breaking the protocols several times.
Following his repeat offense, the individual was summoned to Raa atoll Ungoofaaru magistrate court for remand hearing. He was sentenced with a 10-day remand at a venue provided by the discretion of Ministry of Home Affairs.
Meanwhile it has been reported the incident was investigated by the Ungoofaaru Police division.
