An additional death related to Covid-19 has been reported in Maldives on Tuesday, 14 July 2020 bringing the total fatalities to 14.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) reports the latest victim passed away around 17:05hrs of Tuesday late afternoon. The authority further notes the victim was a Maldivian female aged 79, receiving treatment at Hulhumale' Medical Facility at the time of her demise.
So far Maldives reports a total of 14 deaths, including Tuesday's case, which includes 8 Maldivians and 5 expatriates.
Meanwhile the island nation reports the total number of positive cases of Covid-19 reaching 2,761 while 2,290 individuals have since made recoveries.
Health authorities further confirm a total of 444 individuals remain in various quaratine or treatment facilities; and are identified as currently active cases.
The Maldives government lifted the total lockdown measures on Greater Male' Region a few days back; allowing locals to go outside without restrictions between 05:00hrs to 23:00hrs - under new normal guidelines.
So far a total of 727 new cases have been reported after Greater Male' Region's lockdown restrictions were lifted. Out of these new cases 395 were locals.
