Health authorities on Wednesday, 08 July 2020, confirmed another Maldivian citizen has passed away from Covid-19 disease.

According to Health Protection Agency (HPA), a 70 year old Maldivian woman passed away on Wednesday afternoon. The authority added the deceased was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) around 13:00hrs.

Moreover, the authority claims the woman had already passed away when she was taken to the hospital.

Wednesday's death related to Covid-19 has increased the death count in Maldives to 13, which includes 7 locals and 5 expatriates all passing away after contracting the viral contagion.

The Maldivian victims include 4 males and 3 females, while Wednesday's case adds one more to the count.

As of 08 July 2020 the total number of positive cases reported in Maldives have reached 2,501 while the number of active cases are at 326.

So far a total of 2,156 individuals have made recoveries from the disease.
