Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC spokesperson Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq says 4 more individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 from the hospital.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Nazla said that the four individuals include 2 staff from IGMH and 2 patients from the hospital who were discharged after treatment.

She said that these new cases take the total number of COVID-19 from the hospital to 15 and that this includes 6 staff, 7 patients, and 2 relatives.

Dr. Nazla clarified that contact tracing was ongoing and that a total of 308 samples have been taken in relation to the cases that emerged from the country’s main hospital.

These cases were reported after several nurses working in the ICU of IGMH along with some patients admitted in the ICU tested positive for COVID-19.

The hospital has been taking extra precautionary measures and has been placing all known contacts of the positive patients in self-quarantine and isolation.
