Foreign Ministry says it has not received an official report of a Kenyan national allegedly sexually molested by two local men aboard a safari marooned in the Hulhumale Lagoon last week.

The two men were arrested from the scene of the crime only to be released later on due to lack of evidence against them. Unconfirmed media reports have said that the two suspects were ‘politically connected’.

A media official from the Ministry confirmed to ‘The Press’ that it had not received a report of such a nature from official sources.

The official went on to say that if and when such a report us received by the Ministry from the concerned authorities, the Ministry will attend to the matter in accordance with the established norms and procedures of consular relations.

The incident had outraged the public and political figures in the country as many aimed heavy criticism at the Police for the alleged cover-up.
