Police apprehend 7 individuals after the police carried out three separate operations in Hulhumale.
Police said that these were joint operations conducted by the Drug Enforcement Department (DED) and police intelligence unity.
Police said all three operations were held on the 25th of this month and were based on intelligence reports it received.
Police explained that in the first operation conducted by the DED, police apprehended a 26-year-old Bangladeshi national trying to smuggle several cases of beer from Hulhumale to Male’ by transporting them in a pickup. Police added that the court had ordered the individual to be kept in remand for five days.
In the second operation, Police raided a flat in Hulhumale under a court order and confiscated narcotics and Alcohol from the crime scene. Police said a 26-year old local man and a 29-year-old local man were arrested from the scene of the crime. Police also said that the court ordered that the men must be kept in remand for an additional 15 days.
Police said it raided another flat in Hulhumale in its third operation and seized narcotics and alcohol from the apartment. Police also said that it had apprehended a 20-year-old, 21-year-old, 28-year-old, and a 42-year-old in relation to the case and that all four were local men.
The court has ordered to keep them in remand for five days.
Police had said that the DED was investigating all three cases.
