National Emergency Operations Center NEOC Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez says 5 individuals have been quarantined from Male’ in relation to the positive cases found in Gaaf Alif Atoll. Maamendhoo.
Updating the local media on the latest developments from the Covid-19 crisis, Mabrook said that a total of 13 people have been quarantined after a person who returned to Maamendhoo from Male’ tested positive for Covid-19.
He said that this includes two individuals who traveled with the positive patient, one from Maamendhoo, 5 from Gemanafushi of the same atoll, and 5 from Male’ City.
Mabrook said that 3 of those quarantined from Male’ City were individuals they met while visiting the capital and the remaining two met the positive patient at the airport.
A total of three people have now tested positive for Covid-19 in Maamendhoo including the travel companions of the first individual who tested positive from the island.
Authorities have confirmed that all three are currently under home quarantine in the same room.
